Woman sexually assaulted by stranger while walking in Rutland - Kelowna News

The Kelowna RCMP is searching for a man in his 20s believed to be responsible for a sexual assault perpetrated in the Rutland area earlier this week.

Police say the incident occurred between 12:20 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. Monday when a woman was walking down Springfield Road and Hollywood Road South.

According to her statement, the woman was followed by a man who forced her down Hollywood Road South toward Mission Creek, where he sexually assaulted her.

The woman suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as a South Asian male in his 20s with black hair, a well-groomed beard and a partially shaved right eyebrow.

He was wearing a black zip-up jacket, a white T-shirt, and green silk sweatpants.

“Investigators from the Kelowna RCMP Sex Crimes Unit are actively canvassing the area for video surveillance in an effort to identify and locate the suspect,” said Corporal Tim Russell of the Vulnerable Persons Section.
