You might think that being a fruit would give you the same benefits as if you ate the fresh version. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
Dried fruit does have some benefits and can be a great alternative to sweet snacks like candy. However, you should be careful about which ones are beneficial to you. Some dried fruits contain additional sweeteners. In fact, the average ounce of dried fruit contains about 16 grams of sugar. And because this snack is considered “healthy,” you’ll be talked into eating it by the handful, which won’t support your quick weight-loss goals.
Just because it has the word “diet” in it doesn’t mean you should add it to yours!

Young says that drinking diet soda can increase your cravings for sugar. He also suggests that many people also drink diet soda along with unhealthy foods like chips or cookies, which makes the drink even more harmful to your body.
While it may seem like an easy and fairly healthy on-the-go snack or breakfast, certain traditional granola bars could be loaded with unhealthy ingredients like sugar and hydrogenated oils. They also don’t contain much protein, so this is a non-nutritious meal option.
The same goes for regular granola. Although it tastes good and can be an extra crunchy and sweetening dressing, it is not substantial.
Not only will you not feel full for a longer period of time, but you are putting the wrong ingredients into your body that will not help you lose weight.
If you still like the idea of an easy bar to help fill you up, look on the labels for ones that are high in protein with less sugar.
Another example of a food that has a positive weight loss term in the title is nonfat frozen yogurt. Fat-free doesn’t always mean better for you, and frozen yogurt is no exception.
“Yes, it’s fat-free, but it’s full of sugar and can cause weight gain if you eat too large a serving,” says Young. “Many people think they have a ‘free pass’ when it comes to eating fat-free products.”
Young also mentions that unlike Greek yogurt, the frozen version contains few nutrients, including protein.
