London police evacuate Trafalgar Square but say 'incident has now been concluded'

LONDON – Police evacuated the crowd and cordoned off Trafalgar Square on Saturday morning, shaking the British capital on the third day of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

O The Metropolitan Police did not specify what prompted the evacuation, but said in a tweet that officers were currently at the venue in the square, which is at the opposite end of the Mall from Buckingham Palace, where there is a big show scheduled for Saturday night.

A few minutes later, the police tweeted that the “incident has now concluded” and that they would reopen the square “in due course”. There were no further details about the nature of the incident immediately available on Saturday morning.
