Prince William and Kate Middleton's move is 'slapdown' for Harry and Meghan Markle Royal | News

Prince William and Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, are moving into a new Adelaide Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle this summer. To the surprise of royal observers, the Cambridges have decided to “economise” by settling for a modest four-bedroom cottage with no renovations and no live-in staff. Royal pundit Neil Sean said the latest move was “a big blow” to Harry and Meghan, who have spent more than £2million on renovations to Frogmore Cottage.

On his official YouTube channel, the royal reporter said: “Prince William and Kate have decided to move back into the grounds of Windsor Castle to be close to Her Majesty the Queen.

“They make sure the right people are around her.

“They will be moving to a modest four bedroom cottage, Adelaide Cottage. There will be no renovations and they will be self-sufficient with no staff.

“There will of course be staff near Windsor Castle, but no resident staff as before.”

He compared this to the Sussexes, adding: “Harry and Meghan have had all those renovations done at Frogmore Cottage, worth more than £2million that Prince Charles raised for himself.

Kate and William are also saying to the British public and the Commonwealth, ‘We’re not demanding your money, we’re not going to waste it on renovations – we’re going to move in and get on with the work’.

“What a heavy blow to Harry and Meghan who preach about being inclusive and helping each other while demanding renovations and private jets all over the world.

“What you see here are two working royals doing their very best to be forward-thinking and keep up with the times.

Others have argued that the move is so the Queen can be closer to her grandchildren George, Charlotte and Louis.

En route, a source close to the Cambridges told The Sun: “Kate and William really wanted a modest home to start their new life in Windsor.

“Adelaide Cottage fits the bill as it’s a four bedroom house and they don’t need them anymore as they don’t have a live-in staff.

“They were adamant that they didn’t want anything that was too flashy or something that needed renovation or extra security so as not to burden taxpayers.

“The added bonus is that they can send George, Charlotte and Louis to school together.

“The three children will enjoy running around and playing in the gardens, which is the kind of life they enjoy so much at Anmer Hall.

“They pay the rent from their private account. All they have to do is move some of their precious furniture and possessions.

“The whole family is looking forward to moving this summer and starting a new chapter in their lives together in Windsor.”
